Golf is such a funny game. Funny, How?

Sitting in the media center Sunday for a post-round interview, Brandt Snedeker had just started talking about falling a few strokes short and finishing second in the Farmers Insurance Open. Less than an hour later, he was holding the championship hardware.

Brandt Snedeker watched on television as Kyle Stanley made a disastrous triple-bogey 8 on the final hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course to wipe out what once was a seven-shot lead. After racing to the putting green and refocusing his mind, Snedeker matched Stanley's birdie on the first playoff hole, then won his third PGA Tour title with a par on the second playoff hole when Stanley three-putted from 47 feet.

"It's just crazy," Snedeker said moments after his victory. "To get my mind around what just happened is tough. I'm...read more: Snedeker wins a shocker at Torrey Pines

Race to save 'Lungs of the World'

Napo river, EcuadorThe Yasuni National Park, known as "the lungs of the world" and one of the most bio-diverse places on earth, is under threat from oil drilling. The race is on to find the funds required to develop new sustainable energy programmes that would leave the oil - and the forest - untouched.

Kids' development through Junior Golf

Jason Gore tweets his way into the N.T. Los Angeles Open

Jason Gore isn't the biggest name on the golf planet, but over the last couple of days, he's turned into a social media sensation with the help of thousands of followers on Twitter.

Gore, who became a fan favorite following his Cinderella run at the 2005 U.S. Open, was in need of some good luck after coming up one shot short of earning his card at Q-School.

With a limited PGA Tour schedule, he'd have to rely on the kindness of tournament officials to get a sponsor exemption into some of the top-tier events -- like the Northern Trust Open.

The California native apparently really wanted to play in the event at Riviera, going so far as to use his Twitter account to send out this tweet on Jan. 8: "Just signed up for the @ntrustopen qualifier, but you have NO IDEA how stoked I'd be to get a sponsors invitation! #myhometown #mymajor."
